After last week's rare experience of having no court dates, I have court every morning for the rest of this week, including cases in two different buildings this morning. I spent most of the day yesterday working on income tax and issues surrounding the purchase of our new home. Unfortunately, I also discovered that an ethical issue will preclude me from representing a new client that just hired me, so I had to refund the retainer, which is not good news to hear when you just entered a contract to purchase real estate.
I had lunch scheduled with Brent Nolan, my friend from law school, today so we could handle some business in a case we're both involved in. He hit a bit of a snag yesterday in the case, so we're going to postpone until it is resolved. I had also wanted to talk to him about Sarah's dog bite injury, since he does more personal injury work than I do, but I guess we'll do that later as well. So far, Sarah has incurred more than $12,000.00 in medical bills, and she may still have to have another surgery.
