A Noble Train of Artillery

Most East Tennesseans know that Knoxville is named for Henry Knox, President Washington's Secretary of War. According to one of my history teachers the settlement was named for him to suck up to him for military protection from Indians. Students of the American Revolutionary War know that Knox gained fame during the war by bringing a "noble train of artillery" from the captured Fort Ticonderoga to General Washington in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Knox reported to Washington that the guns had arrived on January 27, 1776.
