Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. It is the day we set aside each year to remember our citizens who have served in the armed forces and paid the ultimate price for freedom, and to appreciate those who yet serve. It began in the aftermath of the Civil War as Decoration Day, when survivors decorated the graves of soldiers who perished during that war, and in time it came to be a day to remember all of our military dead.
