Strawberry Fields Forever

We went out to Rutherford Farms on Saturday to pick strawberries, which they had in great abundance. Our plan was to pick enough to can a dozen pints of preserves, with some extra berries to snack on.
As one would expect, the rows of strawberry plants were very muddy. I wore work boots, but everyone else went barefoot, which in retrospect was a better plan.

Joey and his girlfriend Abby were in town, passing through to spend a couple of nights up at Laura and Stewart's Buckberry Creek Chalet in Gatlinburg. They got in Friday around 1:00 p.m., and helped us with picking and processing duties until late Saturday afternoon.
We had nice weather, so most of the strawberry processing took place on the deck and under the umbrella. Sarah's friend Catarina came over, so we had six people working on the project, and it went pretty quick.
